Remember the golden rules
- Don't use the same title, heading (h1) and meta tags for every page on your site. In fact - make sure each page title and heading is unique and describes the purpose of that page. A common mistake is to create one set of headings, titles and meta content to represent the whole site.
- Make sure every page minimally has a title tag and an H1 tag with similar keywords and make sure they inspire searchers to investigate your page. Think of your title and meta description areas as a classified ad for that page to lure buyers in.
- The title tag is what Google shows searchers so make it something to describe the page they might visit.
- Google will use your meta description tags to show in the listing for your pages so make it appealing.
- If you can't write meta description tags for every page, don't show them at all on the pages you don't have content rather than having the same meta data for each. Google will generate a decent explanation of the page.
